I often get asked questions - here are a few responses.
Q&A for buying and owning an artisan violin
My violins are made from spruce (a soft wood) on the front, and the back and neck are made from maple, which is a hard wood.
I source my woods from a specialist supplier, the woods are well seasoned for many years. Quality is of utmost importance.
Do you have violins in stock that I can buy?
Yes, there are usually two or three instruments in stock and available to buy. Please contact me to discuss
Why would I buy a Chanot Violin?
A Chanot violin takes at least 100 hours to make by hand. The focus is on quality and craftsmanship. I select the best woods and materials and each instrument is individual and unique. Your violin will be individually labelled, will come with a signed certificate of authenticity, which is linked to the label inside the violin.
Are your violins for collectors, players or an investment?
These are artisan produced instruments, which are made to be played. Although they look beautiful, they are not just ornamental.
How do I care for my violin?
Always keep it in an appropriate case whilst not in use, and away from heat, moisture, extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
Never use solvent, just a dry cloth is sufficient, clean off rosin build up under the bridge.
Check the bridge is kept upright.
